ZimBoard Live Edge “Flat-Top” Wild Cherry Cutting Boards
Images shown are representative examples.
Our “FLAT-TOP” Live-Edge Boards are a 2” thick solid piece of hardwood that is sturdy and comfortable to cut on helping to make the overall cooking experience more enjoyable. These boards were born to prep ingredients, serve bread, cheeses and smoked meats. The live-edge, or “natural edge” reveals its tree’s outer surface contours – an organic element that shines in almost any space. The board also has a flat-edge for storing on edge which we recommend. Finger grooves on each end of the board help with maneuvering around the kitchen or table.
Each board has been air dried for a year or more and then kiln dried. We select our own logs for solidness and character investing almost 2 years in this wood before we can use it. While our first priority is to deliver a solid wood cutting surface we are also focused on character – delivering a one-of-a- kind organic element used to prepare your families meals and will last a lifetime.
Black Cherry is known for its warm red-brown color tones and pale-yellow sapwood. It’s also known to darken over time and especially when exposed to sunlight. The grain is typically straight but often figured with curly grain patterns. To add to Cherry’s character is that it sometimes has mineral/gum deposits which are very distinct and visible. Wild Cherry is a closed grain (non-porous) wood that helps to prevent liquids from absorbing into the wood – better at preventing bacteria contamination than plastic.
