CHERRY FLOATING SHELF DESCRIPTION
Our custom Cherry Floating Shelves are made of our Pennsylvania Black Cherry wood that we process ourselves from log through to kiln dried wood slab. Choose from our standard shelf widths and depths or customize your shelf size to fit your specific installation (80” maximum shelf length). Our final shelf thickness is 2” – the shelf is routed and drilled to accept its heavy duty steel hidden bracket (included w/ fasteners).
Pennsylvania Black Cherry is the most sought after for fine furniture with its warm reddish-brown color tones that darken as the wood ages. Our wood is “not” boring commercially processed lumber but rather “character-grade” Pennsylvania hardwood with rich color and natural imperfections that dramatically increase the woods character. All small cracks or knots are filled with epoxy.
We offer both natural Live-Edge for a rustic décor accent or a Flat-Edge with its straight lines for a more modern style.
INCLUDED STEEL BRACKET DESCRIPTION
The included Heavy Duty Steel bracket is made of ¼” cold rolled steel with ¾” solid steel mounting posts the shelf easily slides onto. The steel shelf bracket is fastened into solid wood wall studs or masonry to avoid pull out or sagging.
FURNITURE-GRADE FINISH
All of our shelves are professionally finished by skilled finishers - sprayed with a post conversion cataylized varnish – the preferred finish by most high-end cabinet and furniture makers and is the most durable furniture finish available. Once applied, the CCV finish protects the wood from liquid spills and is the most scratch resistant – eliminates reapplication – clean with a soft cloth or duster.
INSTALLATION
Installing our shelves is simple and easy, although our longer shelves (over 36”W) may be a little heavy and awkward requiring two sets of hands to safely install. Each shelf comes with an Installation Manual – a stud finder, power drill, pencil, level is required to install.
IMPORTANT | PLEASE READ
Our shelves are a “character-grade” single wood slab and not glued up pieces of commercial lumber – no glue seams or unmatched grain patterns just the authentic natural figure of the wood – continuous grain patterns and character.
Multiple shelf orders – When we saw our logs, we keep the wood slabs together while they’re dried and when they’re stored. This means we can use wood with the same character, color and edge – when you order multiple shelves for the same location, they will have the same color and character.
