Our Black Walnut Flat Edge Floating Shelves combine the look of amazing wood character with a modern-style Flat Edge showing beautiful edge grain. Our floating shelves with their hidden brackets give the illusion that the shelf is suspended in air floating on the wall freeing up wall space, resulting in a clean look. Each shelf is unique exposing its own grain pattern, color and edge shape making it a one-of-a-kind décor accent that brings warmth and organic appeal into any space.
Our flawless Catalyzed Conversion Varnish (CCV) Finish distinguish our shelves from most others because of its durability and long-lasting characteristics – it must be applied by a skilled furniture finisher. CCV Finish is permanent – it is a build-up finish consisting of 60% solids that seal the wood protecting it from scratches and water marks. CCV is a 20-sheen satin finish that enhances the woods grain and color leaving a satin smooth texture surface. Our objective; make a high-quality shelf.
Each shelf we make is made from a thick wood slab we mill from our own logs we select for amazing character and color. Each thick wood slab is air-dried for two years then kiln dried ensuring the wood doesn’t warp or crack. All our shelves are constructed of one single piece of solid hardwood with uniform grain and color – we never use glued up pieces of wood that leave an unnatural appearance.

Character-grade hardwood with beautiful natural imperfections like knots, wavy grain and occasional curly figure. All knots and splits are filled with epoxy leaving a smooth surface.
Black Walnut has a coffee-brown heartwood and can sometimes have grey, purple or reddish streaks. Black Walnuts grain is distinctively dark/black and wavy. The Flat edge of walnut has visible wavy grain with occasional rays of lighter sapwood adding to the natural wood character.
CCV Finish with its 60% solids seals the wood protecting it – CCV’s elasticity reduces cracking and moves with the wood as it expands and contracts adjusting to conditions of its surrounding environment.
Single-plank construction creates a shelf with uniform grain patterns and color shows the wood’s beauty - we never use glued-up pieces of wood to make our shelves.
Easy to install Aluminum Cleat Hidden Brackets hide inside the shelf and are strong - capable of supporting up to 40 pounds per wall stud with correct installation.
Multiple shelf orders are made using kiln dried wood slabs from one specific log to ensure all shelves match in grain and color.
Our custom shelves require a 4–5-week lead-time to build – standard sizes may be in-stock and ready to ship, please inquire for availability.
